   The confusion as to this song’s meaning can cause most people to do a double-take when they see the title translated…

“I Can Take Off My Panties!!”

Did you look at that twice?

The story of the song is even stranger. Rin is 14 years of age, and all her older friends (I’m assuming she’s implying Miku, MEIKO, GUMI, Luka, etc…) are able to do ‘grown-up things’ with boys and such… Erm… The reason they’re talking about those things in front of Rin is never explained, but I digress. She wants to be grown-up too, but she’s not allowed to hang out with any boys (I’m guessing her twin Len still counts, but we’ll get to their relationship later). So she decides to prove to herself that she’s an adult just like her friends.

How does she do such a thing? (Let your mind wander to the gutter, this is Cracked.com you’re on!)

She decides to take off her underwear.

“On my own I can
Take off my panties!
Take off my panties!
Take off my panties, and,
When I do, I’ll be a grown-up too!”

This girl really doesn’t understand what makes a grown-up…

Post 2! VOCALOID. An adored music program with many wonderful songs that are in Japanese so you just assume they're about rainbows and kittens. We aren't talking nekos and My Little Pony. This is the real meaning behind those lovely songs you so adore.


2. Meltdown
A very lovely piece that many enjoy very much, the popular Rin Kagamine song “Meltdown” is arguably the most impossible VOCALOID song for a human to sing, what with it’s incredibly high notes and funny low notes, the range has left many fans irritable as one of their favorite songs is unable to be sung.
Maybe they should take a look at the lyrics of the chorus they love so much.

“I dreamed of wrapping my hands 'round your neck
On an early afternoon, overflowing with light
I dreamed, with eyes full of tears
of cinching your narrow throat”

While “cinching your narrow throat” can mean “make you shut up”, it’s still not a positive thing for a 14-year-old girl to say. Then again, she’s looking back at herself in the past (little 5-year-old Rin) and saying how much she hates her life then and now. Let’s see the rest of the chorus.

“I want to dive into
a nuclear reactor
Surrounded by beautiful blue light
If I dive into
the nuclear reactor
then I can let it all go”

She wants to KILL HERSELF. She has the classic suicidal thought that it’s the only way to escape from all her problems. But instead of the typical “slitting her wrists” or “hanging herself”, she wants to die via nuclear poisoning or mutation or something weird like that. At least the girl is creative. With that said, let’s move on to the next song.

1. Cantarella - VOCALOID Songs With Inappropriate Meaning

This is the first in a series of posts about VOCALOID songs with awkward meanings that sometimes border on inappropriate. VOCALOID is very popular in today’s culture (in Japan as well as around the world). The beautiful singing computer program, Miku Hatsune, has left the world flabbergasted by wonderful music, lovely character designs, and a delightful young anime-style girl as their main attraction. VOCALOID has taken the world by storm with technology and sound. But have you ever stopped to think about the meaning behind the songs so many sing, hum, listen to, and remix? The following is a list of a few songs, some popular, some not as well-known, that have an underlying message you may want to know about before you decide you want that Miku ringtone.

1. Cantarella
   The first song I want to bring to attention is a song sung by KAITO titled “Cantarella”. Cantarella is a charming, upbeat song that has a beautiful string background and a sweet tale to tell about rape.

Wait… rape?

Take a quick glance at this part of the translated lyrics:

“Thinking that my words are pure, you've let your guard down.”

He’s saying things to get this person to trust him, but his real intent isn’t revealed until the chorus:

“I now set up a trap to capture your captivated heart.
I now peak into the small crevice,
and capture you.
I slipped you into the deep bushes,
and you are now being violated by the scent of our mixing sweats.”

i.e., I’m raping you now. This is KAITO singing this song originally, with Miku accompanying him. She may not speak Japanese as well as she thinks, or she has some really sick kinks…
